“A dream which is not interpreted is like a letter not read.” - The Talmud

“Conversations with God” is, in essence, a waking dream. It is a journal of my explorations of God. A journey through a labyrinth with endless windows where I find God’s answers to my questions on beauty, womanhood, innocence, rage, lust, defiance, loneliness and finally contentment in peace. All done with a flighty twist – interpreted through images of winged beings because it signifies the truest notion of “winged messengers”.

    In God's Breath

In God's Breath
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.”- Genesis 2:7
It is in this painting that I try to depict what it was like to have God’s breath (symbolized by swirls of red, brown, bronze, copper and gold leaf) breathe life into your very soul while in a deep slumber.

    I Worship Thee

I Worship Thee
How does one portray the awe of being in God’s presence but that of an angel on her knees worshipping God?

    Moonlight

Moonlight
“Then God said, ‘Let there be light; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from darkness.” – Genesis 1:3-4
In this painting, I wanted to depict the birth of light and how the angels must have been startled and wept at the very sight of it. Their contours of their nakedness highlighted by the shadows of their ribs, fingers and stomach revealed in the shimmering new light.

      Unveiling of Bathsheba

Unveiling of Bathsheba
The story of king David’s discovery of Bathsehba has always intrigued me. I wanted to paint the beauty of Bathsheba, attached with wings of a peacock. Peacocks have long been known to be nature’s most dramatically beautiful birds and their feathers have been gathered as a valuable crop in most countries. Painting Bathsheba with peacock wings symbolize her incredible beauty and path to royalty that drove David to the madness of his lust.

Sundance
I was influenced by the celebration of the Pow Wow held at the Kickapoo Reserve. I could hear the beating of the drums and it invaded my dreams and subconscious. The end result was a woman floating silently on water covered by her wings of gold, red, orange and bronze; whispering into the night of her solitude and loneliness.
